As its name suggests, Pure Afghan is a pure indica landrace out of the Kush Mountains in Afghanistan (sativa/indica ratio of 0:100). It’s relatively rare outside of that country, though it can be found on the legal markets of Amsterdam and the American Pacific Northwest. It’s a mellow medical choice that can be used to treat anxiety, low mood, migraines and other headaches, lack of appetite, ADHD, inflammation, and chronic pain, as well as insomnia. The effects are calming and happy, with creativity, mental focus, and powerful hunger. THC levels aren’t terribly impressive, measuring roughly 12% in publicly available tests. That means Pure Afghan may be a good choice for patients who rarely toke. It’s not a good choice for people who suffer from conditions that can be treated with CBD, such as epilepsy, because that chemical is scarce in this strain. Expect an earthy, floral scent with hints of pine, and a similar flavor. Pure Afghan produces large, green, leafy buds with brown hairs. Dry mouth and paranoia appear to be the most common negative effects, but limited dry eyes and dizziness are also reported. This strain can be found in medical marijuana dispensaries between Eugene, Ore., and Vancouver, British Columbia.
